about our practice

about chris porter

Chris Porter Medical has been in practice since 2002, offering a wide range of healthcare services to individuals and families from seasonal colds, allergies and flu, to  compassionate HIV treatment.

Chris Porter’s early involvement in the identification and treatment of infectious diseases has given him a depth of knowledge and perspective which he applies to general medicine, travel medicine, and the treatment of diseases such as Hepatitis, MRSA, and HIV.

In Chris’ words, family care allows him to begin treating the individual, while being mindful that they are part of a larger system. There is no typical kind of family — they are as varied as the neighborhoods and countries we all come from.

As an ARNP, he has been fully educated and trained to take care of all general family medicine needs, providing comprehensive care from a broad perspective.

Chris grew up in Southern California, where he always seemed to be getting involved in some sort of volunteer effort to help others. Becoming a Nursing Assistant, and later a Surgical Technician assisting doctors, seemed only natural.

During his early years of practice, HIV was beginning to have an increasing impact on the health of the surrounding population, and Chris saw first-hand the devastation it had on the lives of those coming into the hospital. With little or no treatment available at that time, education was his only recourse. He became a speaker through the American Red Cross, in the hopes of making a difference by informing the public about HIV transmission, infection and prevention.

As time went on, Chris began offering AIDS case management as a member of the Visiting Nurse Association. Even during a stint in the military, his efforts in education, volunteering, and disease management continued. Upon arrival back home, he entered grad school with the goal of applying everything he had seen and learned to a practice in family medicine.
